书院·志学季｜“学科魅力”英文讲座：公共管理的魅力

常常思考，为何要走上这条求学之路？在你眼中，这条路落英缤纷，曲径通幽；在他眼中，这条路连峰去天，继往开来。打通语言的隔膜，从山谷攀上顶峰，欣赏知识的另一种美，或许大有不同。

本学期明德书院联合各学院，邀请国外著名学者，为明德书院大一同学量身打造“学科魅力”系列全英文讲座。在这里，来自世界各地的专家学者将带领同学们扩展国际视野，提高外语能力，用不同的视角领悟各个学科的魅力。

对于公共管理的广阔魅力还不了然的同学，速速听一听挪威科学院院士、著名公共管理学家Tom Christensen教授的讲解！

主讲嘉宾

Tom Christensen became M.A. at the Department of Political Science, University of Oslo in 1974. He took his Ph.D. degree at the University of Tromsø in 1983. He became associate professor at Department of Political Science, University of Oslo in 1986 and was full professor from 1993 until he retired in 2019 and became professor emeritus. He iscurrently Visiting Professor atthe School of Public Administration and Policy, Renmin University andDistinguished Visiting Professor atthe School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University. He has the last 30 years spent 7-8 years at Scandinavian Consortium of Organizational Research, Stanford University. Christensen is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.

讲座摘要

Public administration is important for all of us, from birth to grave. Public authorities are involved in giving services to people or regulating what people do. To study Public Administration (PA) is to learn theories, models and concepts about how political and administrative decisions are made and implemented – so you develop a unique expertise. Through PA you learn about the importance of collective values and action. With PA you can get a good job, mostly in the public sector. You are better prepared to participate as an active citizen, either through NGO or individually, often through social media.
