明德读书会讲座系列 | 《被缚的普罗米修斯》的真实性与“普罗米修斯三联剧”

古希腊悲剧是古典时代雅典民主政治生活的重要内容,也堪称西方文化的奠基性作品。作为“三大悲剧作家”之一的埃斯库罗斯一生创作了七十余部剧作,他的作品思想性强,矛盾激烈,善于用剧情紧密相接的三联剧形式表现宏大的主题。令人遗憾的是,埃斯库罗斯的作品完整传世的数量寥寥,更显示其珍贵。在传世作品中重要的剧作之一《被缚的普罗米修斯》,被广泛认为与已经散佚的《持火的普罗米修斯》《被释的普罗米修斯》一起组成了三联剧。

但这一组三联剧真的存在吗?

这些作品真的由埃斯库罗斯创作吗?

为配合明德读书会·埃斯库罗斯悲剧系列,结合“明德行思·中希文明互鉴”研学项目,明德书院邀请塞浦路斯开放大学副校长、古希腊悲剧研究专家瓦约斯·利亚皮斯教授带来关于《被缚的普罗米修斯》的讲座,讨论这部经典悲剧是否确为埃斯库罗斯所做以及“普罗米修斯三联剧”的相关内容。

Abstract

This talk will review the principal arguments against the authenticity of Prometheus Bound, traditionally attributed to Aeschylus. It will be seen that, in light of recent scholarship on the play, the burden of proof must now lie with those who side with the traditional attribution. Further, the talk will address the question whether Prometheus Unbound belonged together with Prometheus Bound; the question will probably have to be answered in the affirmative, although this does not mean that either play was composed by Aeschylus. Finally, it will be argued that Prometheus the Fire-Bearer (Pyrphoros) was a satyr-drama which concluded Aeschylus’ tetralogy of 472 BCE, and therefore not part of a trilogy together with Prometheus Bound and Unbound.
